Applebee’s Team Crushed Hurricane Woes!

applebee's john di lemmeDuring Hurricane Irma, my wife and I evacuated North like most Floridians. Unfortunately on our way back home, we encountered traffic gridlocks and closed exits. We were prepared with snacks and beverages in the car, but after nearly 7 hours, we wanted a real meal.  Jacksonville, Florida was our first city to have restaurants that were open late night. But hundreds of other travelers had the same idea that we did so we kept driving and got off an exit a little further down the interstate.

We were greeted by team members that were genuinely happy that we were dining with them. Our server, “Cheerful” Chad, was awesome! Even with a limited menu due to the hurricane, he was able to make some great vegan recommendations for us.  Not only did we enjoy a great meal, but Chad and the other team members encouraged us to stay and chill out for a bit before another six hours of driving. After our meal, they brewed us a fresh pot of coffee, gave us extra to go, and told us to be safe on our long trip home.
